  Lydia Staker married Benjamin Birkey. Ben and Lydia never strayed far from Groveland. Both were born and grew to adulthood on nearby farms. When they married, they moved to his parent's farm two miles south of Groveland. Here they farmed and reared their family. They had four children - Reuben, Levi, Milton and Walter. When they retired from farming, they moved to a small house in Groveland. They were members of the Groveland Mennonite Church. Benjamin died in 1939 at the age of seventy-eight. Lydia died in 1943.
