FISHER — Clarence D. Zehr, 91, Fisher, died Tuesday (April 9, 2013) at Heritage Manor, Gibson City.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at East Bend Mennonite Church, rural Dewey, with the Rev. Michael Dean officiating. Burial will follow at East Bend Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at East Bend Mennonite Church.
Clarence was born April 25, 1921, in East Bend Township, a son of Daniel P. and Mollie (Birkey) Zehr. He married Evelyn Eichelberger on Oct. 21, 1944, at her parents’ home in rural Paxton. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Stanley (Tammy) Zehr, Foosland; a daughter, Pam (Doug) Seim, Fisher; a brother, Milo Zehr, Gibson City; three grandchildren, Todd Seim, Fisher; Cale (Emily) Zehr, Fisher; and Carissa (Brandon) Chandler, Gibson City; and four great-grandchildren, Cohen and Graysen Zehr, Colby Chandler and Danielle Seim.
Clarence farmed his whole life in the Fisher area. He and his wife spent many winters in Florida, fishing and playing cards. He was a lifelong member of East Bend Mennonite Church, where he served on numerous committees.
He was a president of Fisher Farmers Board of Directors and a trustee for Sangamon & Drummer Ditch District. He loved to spend time woodworking.
