Joseph Schrock 1906-1991
The funeral of Joseph B. Schrock, 85, a Congerville man who was the first mayor of the community, was held at 10 A.M. Wednesday at the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church with church ministers officiating.
Burial was in Congerville-Goodfield Apostolic Church Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the Congerville Church.
He died at 10:13 A.M. Sunday, June 2, 1991, at Brokaw Hospital, Normal.
Mr. Schrock was born March 8, 1906, in Congerville, a son of Jonathan and Naomi Gerber Schrock. He married Esther Rassi on June 4, 1939, in Milford, Ind. She survives.
Joseph, with his brother Alvin, owned Schrock Hybrid Corn Co., Congerville, IL. As well as Schrock Fertilizer Company in Congerville. Previous to this venture, they operated the Schrock Dairy--this according to their Aunt Mae, who tells of having a job washing the milk bottles for 10 cents an hour. [2]
