One of the witnesses to the marriage was the bride’s cousin, Jean Hirgie, a 58-year-old farmer at Haute-Clocher. (Could be Jean Hirschy, born 1752 in Haute-Clocher, who married Anne Rouvenacht (sister of Barbe Rouvenacht?) .
The groom signed his name “Petter Rinckenberg” and the bride signed with an “x”, indicating she was illiterate. Catherine Kempt also signed with an “x”.
Catherine Kempf was present and consented to her son’s marriage. [4]

Notes - Peter and Anne lived in Hingsange between 1810 and 1829 when nine of their children were born and two died. In 1831, Peter, Anne, and at least seven of their children sailed for America. After disembarking in New York, they went to Lancaster Co., PA, where their last child was born in 1833. The family moved by steamboat to Illinois in 1837.
Peter walked twenty miles to attend church at Mackinaw Dells. When he died, Peter left no will. , His grave stone uses the name Rinkenberger. [4, 5, 9, 11]
