      Edith Marie Suender of Washington, MO, departed this life on in Washington on Monday, August 10, 2009, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and twenty-four days. Edith was born in St. Peters, MO, on August 17, 1921, daughter of Leo Oliver Molitor, Sr. and Frances Bernadine Molitor nee Schulte. On June 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to Marion Jordon Suender and two children came to bless this union.

      Edith is survived by her son, Roonald E. Suender, Sr. and wife, Mary Anne, of Washington; by her daughter, Sandra Sharp and husband, Gary Peters, of Bourbon, MO; by five brothers, Joe Molitor, James Molitor and wife, Darlene, Tony Molitor, and Charles Molitor, all of O?Fallon, MO, and David Molitor of St. Peters, MO; by three sisters, Dorothy Coleman of St. Charles, Vera Burkemper and husband, Art, of Old Monroe, MO, and Shirley Horstmeier and husband, Leroy, of St. Charles; by four grandchildren, Valerie Wakefield and husband, Travis, and Robyn Brnich and husband, Jason, all of Branson, MO, Ronald E. Suender, Jr. of San Diego, CA and Gary Suender and wife, Jo Ann, of Fenton, MO; by one sister-in-law, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

      Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Leo, Sr. and Frances Molitor; by her husband, Marion Suender; by two brothers, Ralph Molitor and Leo Molitor, Jr.; by one sister, Rosemary Wilburn; and by her son-in-law, Robert Sharp.

      Edith was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church of St. Clair. Although she had worked outside the home for a few years, her primary career in life was caring for her home and family. She was a talented seamstress and had enjoyed making clothes for the children?s dolls and had made majorette costumes for the local high school. She also enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. In younger years, she spent free time as a volunteer at Cedarcrest Manor in Washington. She enjoyed watching animals and birds but was the happiest when she was spending time with her family.

      A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

      Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair with the Rev. Phil Turner officiating. Interment in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to Franklin County Humane Society.
