    • Obit:
      Mr. Salzman, aged 69 years died at Mennonite Hospital after a year long illness with cancer. He was the son of Andrew and Barbara Schmidt Salzman, born in Butler County, Ohio. At the age of 5 he came with his parents to McLean County. In 1873 he went to Henry County, IA where he married Nancy Roth on August 27, 1876. Four children were born: mrs. C. W. Rains of Fairfield, IA, Della M. who died in 1901, Arthur O. of this city and Mrs. W. E. Bengston of Aurora, IL. His wife died in 1890 and on November 17, 1891 he married Lucinda Roth of Trenton, IA and they had these children: Chester W., Walter E. and Raymond D., all of this city. He is survived by 2 brothers, Andrew R. of this city, and Samuel D. of Wheeler, WI and one sister, Mrs. August Dueschner of Normal. Following his second marriage, the couple returned to this city. Mr. Salzman was engaged in farming in Iowa and a few years in the implement business and was also engaged in the carpenter business, being at one time a contractor. [1]
