Well Known Aged Lady Passed away Saturday
      Was born in Bayern Germany—
      Funeral Held Tuesday—Family Survives

Magdalena Peterschmitt, nee Zehr, was born in Bayern, Germany, Oct, 12, 1834, and died at her home near Geneva Nov. 19, 1921, thus bringing her age to 87 years, 1 month, and 7 days. Her young life was spent in the fatherland.
In 1862 she was married to Christian Stucky, this union was blest with three children. In 1866 Father Stucky died. Later in 1874 she was married to Peter Peterschmitt. This union was also blest with three children, two of whom died in infancy.
In 1891 the Peterschmitt family emigrated to our country and located in Wabash township, Adams County, Ind., on a farm where some members of the family still live. In 1915 again the death angel came touching the husband and again sorrow came to mother and to the home.
Soon upon her arrival to our country she united with the Defenseless Mennonite Church and proved a true and faithful member up to her death. For almost three last years, mother could not attend church services due to infirmities of old age and the last fifteen weeks of her life she was confined to her bed and was rendered helpless, yet with that hope that all true Christians have, she looked forward and upward to the end of all sorrows, cares, trials, tests and clouds and sweetly rests now from all these to await that great morning of eternal life.
The deceased leaves to mourn her departure three brothers, namely George of near Geneva, Christ of Groveland, Ill., and John of Wauseon, Ohio, also one brother and one sister in Germany. Also four children, Christian, of near Berne, Joseph, of Groveland, Ill., Katy at home and Mrs. David Schertz, living on the old farm survive, also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, , and other relatives and a host of friends survive. Two husbands, two grandchildren, one brother and sister and two grandchildren preceded her to yonder shore.
Again the circle has been broken yet only to be reunited in yonder home so fair.
The funeral services were held at the Defenseless Mennonite Church, last Tuesday and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Eli Lantz, speaking in German and assisted by Rev. Haley of Linn Grove, in English. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were John Kropf and Mrs. Katie Blough, of Orrville, Ohio, Christian Zehr and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stucky, of Groveland, Ill. [1]
