MARLENE JANE KITSOS, 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. Born July 23, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Donnabelle Culbertson. Marlene loved being in nature and appreciated the beauty of flowers, birds and animals. She could often be found tending to her flower beds during the summer. She was a dog lover, especially of her beloved Boston Terrier pets. A homemaker, Marlene was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed watching football and baseball with her family. She was a very active parent volunteering at the schools her children attended and helping out with all their extra-curricular activities. She was often considered a "second Mom" to her children's friends and classmates. Marlene was known for her kind, caring attitude with friends both old and new. Marlene loved the Christmas season. She took great joy in finding and giving her family gifts they didn't even know they needed. Her family cookbook was a labor of love. She was often described as warm, loving, and generous of spirit. Marlene was a wonderful woman who put an incredibly large number of smiles on an incredibly large number of faces. Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Theodore Kitsos of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sabrina Kitsos of Fort Wayne; son, Nicholas Kitsos of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Ellora Safford of Fort Wayne; sisters, Marsha (Howard) Ester, Marilyn (Roger) Hupe and Mary Culbertson, all of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at the funeral home.
