    • Obit:
      [Melvin C. Oyer] Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Age 89.

      Survived by his loving wife Ruth (nee Grieser) Oyer; a son Scott (Christine) Oyer and a daughter Julie (Jeff) Jaskowiak; eight grandchildren Suzanne Oyer, Luke (Heather) Jaskowiak, Janina Jaskowiak, Bradley Oyer, Alyssa (Christopher) Jameson, Gabriel Jaskowiak, Matthew Oyer and James Jaskowiak; a great-granddaughter Emma Jaskowiak; four brothers Sanford (Virginia), Wesley (Virginia), John (Jolene) and Robert (Rebecca) Oyer; two sisters Donna (Glen Miller) Cripe and Janet (Joseph) Harnish. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

      Preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Dora (nee Springer) Oyer and a brother Franklin (Joyce) Oyer.

      Longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and owner of Mid America Machinery.
