EUREKA — Lucile M. Yordy, 101, Eureka, formerly of Flanagan, passed away at 10:25 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 10, 2013) at Maple Lawn Health Center, Eureka.
She was born May 20, 1911, in rural Flanagan, a daughter of John E. and Laura Slagel Neuhauser.
She married Vernon R. Yordy on Nov. 26, 1930, in Flanagan. He passed away on Jan. 7, 1974.
Survivors include one son, Leland (Carol) Yordy, Flanagan; two daughters, Gladys (Fred) Mengarelli, San Diego, Calif., and Beverly (Dr. John) Henderson, Peoria Heights; one sister, Mildred Beeson, Texas; one half sister, Dorothy Miller, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Dr. Michael (Kathy) Yordy, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; Michelle (Phil) Birt, Florence, Ala.; Laurel (Dr. Alex Zapolanski) Mengarelli, Park Ridge, N.J.; Jay (Leu) Mengarelli, San Diego, Calif.; Brenda (Dennis) Gilmore, Gridley; Suzette (Clarence) Hale, Camarillo, Calif.; John Henderson Jr., Mapleton; Dr. Brett Henderson, Las Cruses, N.M.; Jeffrey (Traci) Henderson, Irving, Calif.; and Jill (Ryan Freemyer) Henderson, Las Cruces, N.M.; 22 great-grandchildren, Brook, Lucas, John, Adam, Alyssa, Brianna, Philip, Aaron, Noel, Kaelan, Gavin, Jack III, Alexandra, Clayton, Brittany, Maverick, Brooke, Ryan, Payton, Ben, Max and Athen; and two great great-grandchildren, Gage and Kyra.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Yordy; two brothers, J. Milton and Kenneth Neuhauser; two sisters, LaVerne Johnson and Helen Kennell; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Yordy.
She was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church, rural Flanagan.
She enjoyed baking, quilting and sewing.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
“Grandma Yordy” was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Per Lucile’s request, a celebration of life and burial will he held “when the weather is nice.”
Cremation will be accorded. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka, is handling arrangements for the family.
