Stalter, Emma Eda, daughter of the late John L. and Barbara (Roth) Stauffer, was born September 11, 1886, near Milford, Nebraska; passed away September 27, 1954, in her home at Tofield, Alberta; aged 68 y. 16 d.. Death came as a result of a heart condition from which she suffered for several years. She was converted in early life, joining the Mennonite Church, and remaining a faithful member and a consistent Christian to the end. On February 5, 1907 she was united in marriage to Simon Stalter of Chenoa, Illinois. To this union were born 3 sons and 6 daughters. Two sons (Chester and Sterling) and 2 grandchildren preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, one son (Daniel of West Unity, Ohio), 6 daughters (Barbara - Mrs. Menno Wideman, Lily - Mrs. Loyal Kauffman, Viola - Mrs. Harold Boettger, Clista - Mrs. Norman Weber, Alma - Mrs. Willard Burkholder, all of Tofield, and Doris - Mrs. Paul Burkholder, Bluesky, Alberta), 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters (Barbara - Mrs. Jake Yoder, Tavistock, Ontario; Annie - Mrs. Elmer Maurer, and Millie - Mrs. Ezra Yoder, both of Tofield; Ida - Mrs. Jake King, Woodburn, Oregon), and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were in charge of M.D. Stutzman and J.B. Stauffer. Interment was made in the cemetery nearby.
Became a British Subject and a Canadian Citizen by naturalization, 18 November 1944. [3]
