The civil entry describes Richely as a 17-year-old weaver's assistant born on Harcholet farm at Le Saulcy Jan. 7, 1786; it is possible that his age was adjusted downward to help him avoid military service, though at this time the marriage alone would have been sufficient as a dis-qualifier.
